INTRODUCTION TO PROFESSIONAL WRITING | ELD TRAINING

Fulfills the general education requirement introduction to professional writing communications. Prerequisite: WRTG or equivalent. An introduction to professional writing of professional writing. The goal is to analyze professional communication scenarios to develop effective workplace writing. Topics include the standards, conventions, and technologies of professional writing; communicating to a variety of audiences; and developing appropriate written responses to workplace challenges.

Students may receive credit for only one of the following courses: COMMENGLor WRTG The discount for Federal employees and their spouses and eligible dependents will be applied to out-of-state introduction to professional writing and specialty graduate programs. It does not apply to doctoral programs. This discount cannot be combined with the Completion Scholarship for Maryland community college students or the Pennsylvania Completion Scholarship, introduction to professional writing.

Undergraduate and standard graduate program tuition for students who meet the criteria for Maryland residency will be the applicable in-state rate. Tuition for active-duty military ; members of the Selected Reserves, National Guard, and the Commissioned Corps of the U.

Public Health Service and National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration; and the spouses and dependents of these student groups will be the applicable military or specialty rate. Focus is on writing an argumentative research paper that synthesizes information and ideas from multiple sources and demonstrates critical thinking, varied rhetorical strategies, proper source documentation, and effective language use.
